Wall Construction Specifications for Column-Free Plastic Commercial Greenhouses
This document outlines the wall construction requirements and operational guidelines for column-free plastic commercial greenhouses, for reference by relevant construction stakeholders.
Practice has shown that column-free commercial greenhouses have stricter wall construction standards. This is because such greenhouses are fully supported by steel frames (one installed every 3.0–3.5 meters), with the upper ends of the steel frames connected to the back wall via puzzle pillars. As a result, the overall weight of column-free commercial greenhouses is significantly greater than that of bamboo-framed commercial greenhouses with columns.
To meet these requirements, the following construction steps are recommended:
1. Wall Base Compaction: Use a bulldozer to compact the ground at the wall base (with a north-south width of 6–8 meters) to prevent ground subsidence.
2. Soil Layer Preparation: Use an excavator to move earth and lay a 70 cm-thick layer of ripped soil, then compact it 2–3 times back and forth with the excavator.
3. Back Wall Height: The optimal height for the back wall is 4.5 meters. After completing the wall structure, thoroughly compact the top of the wall.
Additionally, note the following key detail: When excavating the greenhouse wall, ensure it has a proper inclination—narrower at the bottom and wider at the top—with an inclination angle of 6–10 degrees being appropriate.
This specification is formulated based on practical construction experience to ensure the structural stability and durability of column-free plastic commercial greenhouses.
