1. Light Transmittance  

Light transmittance is one of the most fundamental indicators for evaluating the light transmission performance of commercial greenhouse structures and lighting systems. It is defined as the percentage of outdoor light that penetrates the greenhouse enclosure. The transmittance of a commercial greenhouse is primarily influenced by two factors: the light transmission properties of its translucent covering materials and the shadow rate of its structural skeleton. Additionally, due to seasonal variations in solar radiation angles, greenhouse transmittance fluctuates dynamically over time. Notably, the transmittance level directly impacts crop growth and the selection of suitable crop varieties for cultivation.  

2. Insulation Performance  

Enhancing insulation performance to reduce energy consumption is a core strategy for improving the production efficiency of commercial greenhouses. The insulation ratio serves as a basic indicator of a greenhouse’s insulation capability. This ratio is determined by the thermal resistance of the greenhouse’s non-translucent building envelope relative to the product of the thermal resistance of the translucent covering material and the ratio of the translucent covering area to the total land area occupied by the greenhouse. A higher insulation ratio signifies better insulation performance.  

3. Durability  

Durability is a critical consideration in commercial greenhouse construction. Its durability is influenced by factors including the aging resistance of materials and the load-bearing capacity of the main structure. For translucent materials, durability depends not only on their inherent mechanical strength but also on the rate of transmittance attenuation over time—this attenuation degree is a decisive factor in the material’s service life. Given that commercial greenhouses operate long-term in high-temperature and high-humidity environments, surface corrosion of structural components has emerged as one of the key factors affecting their overall service life.
